Trade Alert 08/08/2025

Trades placed:

• Purchased 116 shares of Mid-America Apartment Communities (MAA) at $140.7413 per share. 

We have traded in MAA previously, but didn’t own any shares immediately prior to the purchase. This purchase will give shares a weight between 0.9% and 1.0%. This follows on the prior foreshadowing from the Weekly Update for 08/03/2025. I suggested I might look to open or increase a position in the apartment REITs. There are other viable alternatives for housing REITs as well that are trading at very similar valuations. I decided on picking up MAA though. 

In the Weekly Update (linked above), I included a full section discussing the recent move lower in apartment REITs.

I put these shares in the taxable account as I am expecting it to be a less active position. I’ll probably sit on these shares for quite a while, though that could change depending on valuation.

If we see continued weakness, I would be fine building this position or allocating more capital to the sector.
